LOEWS CINEPLEX ENTERTAINMENT 1997-2006
Director of Technology Infrastructure
Loews Cineplex was a movie exhibitor with 150 locations across the US.
Before corporate restructuring Loews controlled over 400 theatres with a corporate
staff of 500 in the US and Canada with all IT being coordinated out of the NY office. The NY
office was shutdown following a merger with AMC of Kansas City in May of 2006.
Reported to CIO, provided leadership and direction
for corporate technology strategy and management, including Hardware, Operating
Systems, Database, Data Networking and Telecommunications. Areas of management
responsibility included system Administration, Database Administration, Network
Management & Help Desk functions.
Major Projects included:
- Researched, planned and managed migration of
Oracle Database servers from Windows to Linux environment – improving
performance and reliability of processing systems. Performance improvements included
reduction of key financial batch process from five hours to less than one
hour. Reliability improved from an
average of three to four system (hardware, operating system &
database) failures per month to two or three failures a year.
- Designed, implemented and supported corporate
wide network of 150+ locations.
- Restructured Corporate Help Desk procedures and
policies including the implementation of an automated Incident Tracking
System, improving problem tracking and accountability.
- Point person on all audits including annual IS
Audits and external CISP (Credit Information Security Program) Audit.
- Developed disaster recovery plan including
documentation of business process impact and recovery; managed
implementation of internal disaster recovery site.

Y2k infrastructure remediation project across entire company (corporate and theatres).
Developed process for tracking compliance status of technology components and business
partners.

Served as hands-on project manager in the development and implementation of numerous
departmental applications. This included messaging/workflow applications for the
Security and Purchasing departments which replaced a manual process of communications
via faxes, phone, overnight, etc between multiple parties
(theatre, regional management, corporate office and vendors) with an
electronic forms/workflow enabled based system.

Project manager for in-sourcing of corporate telephone system management
and support reducing costs and improving timeliness of service
- Designed standards for theatre IVR,
telecommunications and cabling systems.

for chargeback, backup/recovery/archive, eMail communications (RSCS based
BitNET), and early implementation of TCP/IP on the Mainframe. Programming
experience included BAL (assembly language), PL/1, Cobol, Snobol, and JCL.
